Virgin America is a United States based airline that began its service and operations on August 8, 2007. San Francisco International Airport is Virgin America’s main hub, but the airline also has got focused city hubs at Los Angeles International Airport and Dallas Love Field. Imperative Baggage Policies
- Virgin America carry-on Baggage policy
Virgin America allows 1 carry-on bag and anyone personal item per passenger on its flights.
The Carry-on baggage must not exceed the following dimensions: 50 linear inches (24 x 16 x 10 in) which includes handles and wheels and a personal item which should not exceed the following dimensions (17 x 10 x 9 in)
2) Checked Baggage for Virgin America
2 standard bags are allowed the number of which can be taken up to maximum of 10 bags. The dimensional limit of which is 62 inches and must not exceed that for the passenger to carry their bags and if we talk about the weight of the baggage then it must not exceed 23 kg. The fees for standard checked baggage is $25.00 and for second baggage it is the same as well.
3) Excess Baggage policy of Virgin America
In case of excess baggage Virgin America charges $25.00 per bag from the third bag till the tenth.
4) Overweight Baggage policy of Virgin America
Virgin America charges for the baggage that is more than 23 kg in weight. The charges are as follows
- 24 to 32 kilograms: $50.00 USD extra per bag
- 33 to 46 kilograms: $100.00 USD extra per bag
Bags which exceed the limit of 46 kilograms will not be accepted as checked baggage.
5) Oversize Baggage policy of Virgin America
- If the baggage is over sized then for extra bags Virgin Airlines charges $75.00 extra for bags that are 63 to 80 linear inches.
- Bags which exceed 80 linear inches will simply not be accepted as checked baggage.
6) Sports Equipment:
Virgin America allows sports equipment such as golf bags, fishing equipment hockey will be accepted up to Virgin America’s size and weight limit.

Virgin America Pet Policy:
Method of Transportation
Pets like cats and dogs may travel in the main cabin of the aircraft. Pets checked as baggage are not accepted at all.
Each and every animal must be carried in the kennel provided by the passenger. Puppies and kittens must be 8 weeks in age and as far as the weight is concerned it must not exceed 9 kg. The passenger who is wishing to carry on a pet must present a genuine veterinary certificate dated within 30 days prior to departure which indicates that the shots are current and that the date of birth which is listed and which is verified to be greater than 8 weeks of age for the pet.
The Kennel must be particularly made for animal carriage and must not exceed 18 in x 15 in x 8 in. It must be leak and escape proof. It must be properly ventilated and must allow the animal to stand and move in a free manner. It must also contain proper absorbent material.
Virgin America adds charges of $100 fee to the price of passenger’s reservation for the transportation of each pet per segment.
For the necessary health documentation, the passenger must give a veterinary which must be dated within 30 days before the departure. When as a passenger you are booking a flight reservation then you must contact a veterinarian to acknowledge and ensure additional government requirement for pets at their final destination.

Virgin America Unaccompanied Minor Service
Talking about the unaccompanied minor service, it is mandatory for the children who are between the age group of 5-14 years and who are traveling without any legal adult guardian who is of at least 15 years of age. Children who are 15-17 years are not required to travel as unaccompanied minors but they can if they want owing to the fact that it is an optional service. Children who are under 4 years of age are simply not allowed to travel unless accompanied by an adult who is at least 15 years of age. However, the unaccompanied minors of 5-14 years of age group can travel on non-stop flights.
